When there are passengers on board a hotel ship, care must be taken to provide adequately trained first responders who can act when accidents occur. For this purpose, crew members are appointed who can perform this task properly after completing the training.
First Responder/4 p.m.
During this course, participants are taught how to save a human life. Of course, the training is fully tailored to inland navigation, which can be seen, among other things, in the examples used and the technical jargon. Nevertheless, this remains a basic course in which quality prevails and candidates are expected to actually be able to act during an accident. That is why the instructor will stick to the subject matter a lot and differ little with exciting stories.
The basic course lasts 3 half-days and has the course topics listed below;
- Victim assessment using the ABCDE protocol
- Resuscitation and AED use
- Life-saving actions
- Diseases
- Bandage leather
The training is provided in a very practical way and completed with an exam, which, after successful completion, leads to an entry in the candidate's safety booklet.
First Responder/8 hours
During the refresher course for first responders, the skills learned in the basic course are practiced again and new techniques are introduced to the participants.
The refresher course can be customized, so that, in addition to mandatory topics such as Reanimation, the use of AED and life-saving actions, there is also room for deployment exercises, for example. These deployment exercises take place at various locations on board, which ensures a high degree of recognition of the risks among candidates.
When possible, we will use a simulation victim to simulate injuries. A simulation victim is a person who can simulate injuries and illnesses in a very realistic way, giving the participants in the courses an almost real picture of the situation and then offering the best possible solution.
